How do you bill for your services?
My standard billing procedure is to bill monthly. I expect payment upon receipt. All standard forms of payment are accepted including credit cards.

What hours are you available?
I am available during normal business hours, which are 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday. I can also make special arrangements for evening or weekend consultations.

What role do you play if the IRS audits me?
If an income tax return that I have prepared for you is selected for audit, you can choose to go to the audit yourself or you can choose to have me represent you at the audit.

If you decide to try it yourself, I will spend up to one full hour with you at no charge, going over the return in question with you. After that, regular fees apply. If you choose to have me represent you at the audit, then my standard hourly fees would apply, less one hour at no charge.

What information should I bring to you for my individual tax return preparation?
A short list of what should be brought to the income tax interview includes all W-2s, 1099s and any other items that report income for the year. The other items reporting income can include closing statements on real estate transactions and year-end broker statements reporting investment activities. If you are a new client, I also need to see the last couple of income tax returns that you filed and any detail depreciation schedules that may have been associated with those tax returns.

As a service to returning clients, I send them a "tax organizer" at the end of each calendar year. The organizer includes information from the most recently filed tax return printed in a pro-forma format. This can be a great help in compiling the current year's tax data. For new clients, I will prepare a tax organizer for them to use in our first interview using their prior year tax return if I have enough time. If time is not available, then I can furnish new clients with a blank tax organizer.
